What is purchased and how it is purchased has direct consequences for the sea. At ICPMX, we recognize that the private sector and market dynamics play a key role in advancing toward legality, equity, and sustainability. That is why we work with companies in the sector — retailers, restaurants, distributors — so that their decisions are part of the solution, not the problem.
To drive changes in the commercialization practices of fishing and aquaculture products that promote the legality, traceability, sustainability, and competitiveness of the sector.

This document establishes the results that the Markets Group aims to achieve by 2030 and the concrete actions to accomplish them in the 2024–2027 period. It reflects the agreements of the membership and is the operational guide that shapes the group's work each year.
The group drives the process 'Commercialization Commitments for the Responsible Procurement of Fish and Seafood,' through which companies in the sector adopt good practices to reduce the risk of commercializing products from illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
26 companies have already adopted responsible commercialization commitments. And growing.
In collaboration with allied organizations, the group promotes an online course — 'Learning Space on Sustainable Fishing and Aquaculture Topics' — aimed at retail companies, distributors, and restaurants. The course offers practical tools to improve decision-making in the purchase and sale of seafood products.
Traceability allows tracking the journey of fishing products from capture to the consumer. ICPMX promotes the development and implementation of traceability systems that ensure the legal origin of products and strengthen market confidence.
The Markets Group coordinates efforts among the productive sector, companies, civil society organizations, and specialists to develop tools, generate knowledge, and promote more responsible commercial practices throughout the entire value chain.
