The future of fishing in Mexico is being written today.

Collectively.

ICPMX is the network where the productive sector, government, academia, the private sector, and civil society work together — not to think alike, but to build agreements that transform Mexico's fishing and aquaculture system.

In 2017, we asked ourselves a question: how do you transform Mexico's fisheries system to make it truly sustainable — environmentally, socially, and economically?

The answer was not found in isolated projects. It was found by bringing together, for the first time, all the links in the chain: fishing communities, the productive sector, government, academia, businesses, and civil society — at the same table, with a shared agenda and genuine willingness to act.

This is how ICPMX was born under the Collective Impact model: multisectoral collaboration, shared objectives, and coordinated action to address problems no single person can solve alone.

Agenda

THREE LEVERS FOR CHANGE

Social Wellbeing

Organized fishing communities with the capabilities and conditions to thrive.

Governance

Legal, transparent fishing managed in a collective and responsible manner.

Markets

Companies, the productive sector, and consumers who drive sustainability through their purchasing decisions.

Vision

A fisheries sector that is Mexico's pride and an example for the world.

We envision a highly competitive and sustainable fishing and aquaculture sector in which every element of the value chain is strengthened, fishing communities are prosperous and resilient, and the Mexican population chooses domestic, legal, quality products. A sector that contributes to the country's food security and is a global reference for its organization and responsible use of marine resources.

Mission

Uniting efforts to transform fishing and aquaculture in Mexico.

We coordinate efforts among communities, civil society, the private sector, and government to promote sustainable, competitive, and inclusive fishing and aquaculture in Mexico, strengthening governance, markets, social wellbeing, and the responsible use of marine resources.
