We are 40 voices from different sectors and a shared conviction: the future of fishing in Mexico depends on what we build today.

ICPMX is a collaboration network that promotes consensual proposals and actions among all the stakeholders who make fishing in Mexico possible: producers, communities, companies, government, academia, and civil society.

We work together because we share more than an objective — we share the conviction that real sustainability is only possible through collaboration, and that systemic change requires all links in the chain to be at the same table.

Why We Work Together

We approach this challenge from the points of convergence among different sectors — with an informed, collaborative vision oriented toward generating concrete solutions. This means:

  • Contributing to the conservation of healthy, productive oceans.
  • Promoting the wellbeing of fishing communities and those who participate in the sector.
  • Driving a stronger and more competitive industry that contributes to Mexico's food security.
  • Promoting participatory and inclusive governance through public policies oriented toward the sustainable management of fishing and aquaculture resources.

Shared Agenda

A living agreement that guides collective work.

It is ICPMX's roadmap: it establishes our long-term vision, the points of convergence among sectors, and the concrete actions to advance toward them. It is reviewed every six years to adapt to changes in context — because an agenda that does not evolve becomes irrelevant.

The first Shared Agenda was created in 2018. Its periodic review allows the initiative to remain current amid changes in the social, environmental, political, and economic landscape, including changes in government strategies. From it, triennial work plans with specific actions for each group are developed.

How Does ICPMX Operate?

A structure designed for collaboration to actually work.

ICPMX has an Internal Governance System that establishes the rules, structures, and processes that guide participation and decision-making. This system defines the rights and responsibilities of the membership, as well as the ways of deliberating, deciding, and reporting transparently.

Network Bodies

Assembly

The plural voice that guides us

The assembly brings together all the individuals, organizations, and companies that are part of ICPMX. Each member subscribes to the shared agenda and the guiding principles of collaboration and sustainability. It meets at least once a year to share progress and reflections. Members may or may not participate in working groups.

Board of Directors

Those who ensure the vision stays central

Board members are the individuals responsible for ensuring that the vision and mission of the initiative are fulfilled, as well as for driving the implementation of the shared agenda.

Working Groups

Where ideas become action

The working groups are the central operational arm of the initiative. They develop strategies and performance indicators, share progress with the Board of Directors, align their organizations' actions with the initiative's goals, and promote the dissemination of collective work.

Support Team

The fabric that makes coordination possible

The Support Team is dedicated to serving the initiative's membership, ensuring that coordination, communication, learning, fundraising, and administrative activities are carried out effectively.

Fiscal Sponsor

A legal entity eligible to receive foreign donations, legally and financially responsible for the use of those resources. It contracts and pays the Support Team's fees and delivers financial and technical reports related to donation contracts. ICPMX's current fiscal sponsor is Multiplier.
